This post is the first in a series of three to be posted each week outlining the work of the district and our new strategic plan that we have been working on the last three months….

Hello BEA Families!

Despite all of the challenges and changes the last 18 months have brought to us, one thing that remains constant is that BEA Schools is committed to ongoing improvement by channeling our resources into student achievement. One of the tools that helps many districts do that is a Strategic Plan. Roughly five years ago, BEA Schools created a Strategic Plan with the goals set on improving the budget, community relations and communication, and student support and achievement. In 2019, this plan was refreshed and we narrowed our focus to the last few goals not yet achieved. Now that we have accomplished many of these goals, it was time to fully update our Strategic Plan for the next five years. 

This process began in the Spring of 2021 with a partnership between the District Leadership Team, our school board, and TeamWorks International. In May, these groups of people met for an evening of discussion on what we want our district to be in the coming years. This important work continued with our District Leadership Team for an additional two days of retreats to narrow in on our district’s Desired Daily Experiences, the vision of our future, and how to measure and hold us accountable for reaching our goals. 

Over the course of two days, there were three main concepts that kept emerging and fueled our work: 

1) Increasing a consistent Social Emotional Learning practice and experience in each of our classrooms; 

2) Establishing Curriculum and Instruction as a District Core Strength and Structure; 

3) Improving Our District and School Efficiency and Effectiveness.

These three themes were the guiding principles to help direct our work over the next three months…..
