At Blue Earth Area Schools, we use FastBridge (for grades K–5) and STAR Assessments (for grades 6–12) to help teachers understand how students are progressing in key academic areas like reading and math.
These assessments are not high-stakes tests — they’re short, adaptive tools that help teachers:
Identify each student’s strengths and areas for growth
Track progress throughout the year
Adjust instruction and provide extra support when needed
It will also help us see a student’s progress over the course of several years.
Most students take these assessments three times per year (fall, winter, and spring). Each one takes about 20–30 minutes, and results are used alongside classroom performance to guide instruction and interventions.
Our goal is simple: to make sure every student is growing and receiving the right level of support to reach their full potential.
If you ever have questions about your child’s results or how we use the data, please reach out to their teacher or building principal — we’re always happy to explain more!
