We had a fun, impromptu, concert put on by some of the 7th grade orchestra students this week. Begindergarten is talking about the letter V this week so we invited them to come in and show us their violins and violas. We got a couple of bonus cellos too! Mr. Koenig was kind enough to let them join us! We talked about how the strings vibrate to make the sound. The kids thought it was very interesting and liked hearing the three different instruments play both separately and together. And the 7th graders thought it was a lot of fun to teach the begindergarteners about their instruments!

🏀 💛Practice with the BUCS! 💛🏀

Last week, our Girls Basketball team hosted a special “Practice with the BUCS” Day! Coach Spencer Monson invited girls in Kindergarten through 5th Grade to join the team for a fun and energetic session and the turnout was fantastic!

Events like this are a wonderful opportunity to build relationships between our high school athletes and elementary students, inspire future BUCS, and strengthen our school community.

We love seeing BUC Pride grow at every level! 💛

Last week, the BEA High School Bands welcomed guest Ben Faugstad. Ben is the band director and music professor at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Ben recently wrote a composition titled "Octavius" that the BEA concert band has been working on for our upcoming Large Group contest and concert. Students had the opportunity to work in sectional lessons and have rehearsal with Mr. Faugstad. This was a wonderful experience for the students to get to work in person with the composer of one of their selections.

🤩🎉Congratulations to Ms. Albright and Ms. Armstrong, winners of the K-7 Buc Pride Awards for February! Both were nominated by multiple colleagues for their efforts and leadership.
Here are a few of the comments below to highlight them.

Sara Albright:
⭐️Sara is a caring and passionate teacher at Blue Earth Area. The time and effort she puts into planning lessons for students that are meaningful and impactful is top notch. Students completed a bead activity last quarter that was time and cost impactful but that didn't stop Sara, and the students absolutely loved the project! I also see sara spending many hours on our district QComp program. Her hard work and efforts to make the program run smoothly is so appreciated by all of us at Blue Earth Area. And then there is Frankie! Sara has brought a new level of support to our district. It is so fun to see the kids (and adults) light up anytime they see her and get to have some Frankie time!

⭐️We are so lucky to have Sara a part of BEA! She is always coming up with lessons that are meaningful for the students. Most recent, the 6th grade students made bead work where they could pick the design they created with the beads. I have seem some great bead work! Sara also does a fantastic job and organizing the Q Comp program. She put in many hours to make sure we all are in the know of deadlines and new Q Comp related news. And then there is Frankie! Sara is always finding ways to give students opportunities to be with Frankie. From helping a struggling student get into the building, to visiting classrooms throughout the year. Sara is a true example of a great educator!

⭐️Sara is a great teacher and an amazing person. She goes above and beyond for her students, even the students she doesn't have in her classes. She is a great instructor, by the way she teaches, you know Sara loves her job. She is passionate about the success of her colleagues and is always looking out for everyone. I am thankful I have such an amazing mentor and friend, I know I can always rely on Sara!

Madison Armstrong:
⭐️Madison has an amazing way to connect with her students and make them feel loved and understood while still keeping a lighthearted and fun environment to be in. She deeply cares and values her students. I'm always amazed to see just how much her students respect and care about her, as she's able to click with each and every one of them so quickly.
Truly she is a gem and makes a profound impact on everyone's lives, staff included! She treats everyone with kindness and respect. She absolutely deserves to be recognized for her dedication to shaping lives.

⭐️Such a fun colleague, very go-with-the-flow. I think I'd love to be a 2nd grader in her classroom!

⭐️Madison is able to build such good relationships with her students that it's rare that I don't see them smiling. Having her class for specials is a treat and seeing them get along so well with her makes me so happy to see. She has a special way of helping her students feel seen and cared for no matter what, and her care is what makes her students shine.

Congrats to both of our very deserving winners!

Huge thanks to Michelle Hall and her awesome, attentive Silver Sneakers crew at the Fitness Center for allowing Superintendent Fletcher a few minutes after today’s workout to share some Facilities facts!

Michelle agreed to the presentation on one condition—that the Mrs. Fletcher join the workout first (deal accepted 😅💪). It turns out the Silver Sneakers class was WAY harder than she anticipated, and there may have been a friendly comment about Michelle being a little aggressive with the weights she recommended .😆

If any other groups are willing to spare a few minutes to hear Facilities facts, Superintendent Fletcher would be happy to join your meeting too—though participation negotiations may be on the table next time!
