We enjoyed a great partnership and collaboration at Blue Earth Area High School on February 6th with United Hospital District, Community Health & Human Services of Faribault & Martin Counties , Cornerstone Clinic, Blue Earth Drug, High-STEP Health Science Academy students, Mayo Clinic Health System, South Central Service Cooperative, and area community health care experts, exposing our 8th grade students to the health science career pathway.
The students were able to try out state of the art equipment to explore careers and try out skills needed in the health science area, such as life saving techniques, vital signs, geriatric (aging) experiments, emergency medical skills, and viewing conditions of the ears and eyes.
Brenda Millmann, Community Engagement Coordinator for Blue Earth Area Schools, coordinated this pilot event in the region through South Central Perkins.

Congrats to our BUC PRIDE winners for Quarter 2 of the 2023-2024 School Year!
Each quarter, Buc PRIDE award winners are chosen through a collaboration of high school staff and National Honor Society members. In the spring, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders are invited to apply for NHS membership based on their GPA. Membership is awarded based upon academics, service, character, and leadership.

Congratulations to Blue Earth Area Activities Director and assistant football coach, Travis Armstrong, for being a recipient of the 2023 Butch Nash award from the Minnesota Football Coaches Association!
The award, which is named after longtime Minnesota Gophers assistant coach Butch Nash, is presented to assistant coaches in the state who significantly contribute to their school's football program and embody qualities that define them as the ideal assistant coach.

🐂Mr. Milbrandt's Animal Science class did not let the cold stop them from going out to learn about all aspects of Goette Farms last Thursday morning. Erica Goette taught the class about how they raise their beef cattle and lambs to sell the meat at local farmers markets, on their online store, and directly to restaurants and schools.
We thank Erica for sharing the practices on their farm as well as talking about how practices are different on other farms.
Fun Fact: Goette Farms provides some of the ground beef used right here in our school district! 🍔
